Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation reveals timeline for national AI model launch
Ukraine’s Ministry of Digital Transformation, together with Kyivstar, is developing its own large language model (LLM), with the first version expected by the end of spring 2026. This project marks a significant advance in the country’s AI technologies and the support of the Ukrainian language.

The model will better understand Ukrainian language, culture, and context, and according to developers, it will cost 2.5 to 3 times less than foreign counterparts. Initially, it will be used for state AI assistants, with plans to open the code for developers later.
