An investigation has been launched at the Odessa Territorial Coordination Center following a shooting at a checkpoint
The Odessa Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support has launched an internal investigation into the use of a weapon by a servicemember.
The incident occurred on March 25 in the Peresypsky district of the city during a mobile checkpoint operation to verify documents.
According to official information from the agency, the conflict was provoked by a driver who ignored a military officer’s lawful order to stop.
Instead of slowing down, the driver performed a dangerous maneuver toward the TCC representative, posing a real threat to his life.
“The citizen ignored this order and, continuing to drive, performed a dangerous maneuver toward the serviceman, posing a direct threat to his life and health. In response to the driver’s aggressive actions, the serviceman fired a noise-generating device toward the vehicle,” the regional TCC reported.
The soldier who used the special device is a combat veteran with experience defending the country in the hottest conflict zones.
He was wounded while defending Ukraine’s territorial integrity in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, which affected his psychological state.
The command noted that due to his combat experience and the stressful situation on the road, the man reacted emotionally to the violation of traffic rules.
A detailed investigation of the incident is currently underway to properly assess the actions of those involved.
“An internal investigation has been launched to thoroughly examine the circumstances and properly assess the soldier’s actions,” the agency emphasized.
As a reminder, in Odesa, a TSK vehicle struck a pedestrian; the woman was hospitalized.
Additionally, a woman from Kyiv was mistakenly registered for military service and placed on a wanted list.
