The Office of the President rejected a petition calling for a press conference by Zelenskyy for independent media outlets

The Office of the President rejected a petition calling for a press conference by Zelenskyy for independent media outlets

The Office of the President refused to publish on the head of state’s official website a petition calling for Volodymyr Zelenskyy to hold a press conference with representatives of independent media. The petition did not appear on the president’s website.

Mokryk published screenshots of his initiative and the Office of the President’s response.

In his appeal, the journalist emphasized that protests have been ongoing in Ukraine for over a month, and one of the demands consistently raised at these protests is a call for the president to engage in a genuine dialogue with society.

According to him, a press conference for independent and critically minded journalists and media outlets could be an effective and realistic form of such a dialogue.

“It is precisely these journalists who are prepared to ask the pointed and pressing questions about domestic policy that are being raised at the protests today, and it is the answers to these questions that the public wants to hear directly from the president,” the statement read.

“We ask that a separate press conference be held, inviting representatives of the following media outlets (and giving them the opportunity to ask questions): Ukrainska Pravda, Bihus.Info, Slidstvo.Info, Radio Svoboda, hromadske, The Kyiv Independent, Suspilne, NV, “Dzerkalo Tyzhnia,” BBC Ukraine, and Liga.net,” the text also stated.

Mokryk emphasized that an open dialogue with independent journalism is a step that could provide a real response to the demand voiced by society.

In response to this initiative, representatives of the Office of the President stated that “the electronic petition initiated to the President of Ukraine does not meet the established requirements; therefore, it will not be made public.”

A petition calling for a complete ban on electric scooter rentals has been registered in Kyiv.

Greece may ban electric scooters for children under 17.

As a reminder, the parliamentary committee on transportation and infrastructure has officially recommended that the Verkhovna Rada adopt a bill establishing clear rules for users of electric vehicles.

As a reminder, following a traffic accident in Vorzel, the topic of electric scooters has resurfaced.

We previously reported that new rules for electric scooter rentals have taken effect in the Latvian capital, aimed at resolving the most common issues arising from the presence of this mode of transportation on the streets.
