The Presidential Office issued a strong statement regarding Lukashenko

The Office of the President of Ukraine reacted sharply to Alexander Lukashenko’s statements and warned him against taking any action against Ukraine. Officials there emphasized that if Belarusian territory were used again for aggression, Ukrainian forces could strike strategically important targets in the country. According to a representative of the Office of the President, Ukraine has sufficient military capabilities to keep the entire territory of Belarus under control. Lukashenko was also advised not to drag his country into a war if he wants to preserve stability and his own security.

According to Podolyak, the recent threats made by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko against Ukraine are purely for propaganda purposes. However, if Belarus again allows missiles or drones to be launched from its territory, Kyiv will consider it an active participant in hostilities.

He emphasized that the consequences for Minsk would be the same as for the territory of the Russian Federation. Thanks to its advanced long-range technologies, Ukraine is capable of striking any key target on Belarusian territory if necessary.

"Then running around with a half-empty automatic rifle—or, more precisely, with an 'Akasha' without a magazine—will be child’s play," Podolyak noted.

Assessment of the military threat

The advisor to the head of the Office of the President emphasized that Ukrainian intelligence is currently monitoring the redeployment of military units and the construction of camps along the shared border. Despite these provocations, the Belarusian army’s own forces are insufficient for a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

For a real offensive, Russia would have to mobilize significant reserves, which it currently lacks due to active fighting on other sections of the front. At the same time, the Ukrainian Defense Forces fully control the northern border, have established clear logistics there, and have identified all necessary targets for defense.

"The rhetoric of both Mr. Brovdi (Commander of the Special Forces Robert 'Madyar' Brovdi, ed.) and all other Ukrainian military officials speaks to only one thing: 'Think before taking rash steps.' That is, whether to get drawn into the active phase of hostilities,” Podolyak explained.

Sentiment in Belarus

He also noted that Belarusian society, unlike Russian society, categorically does not support the war against Ukraine. Belarusian citizens are much more clearly aware of the difference between peace and war and see the horrors of Russian aggression. Because of this, Lukashenko would do well to weigh the internal risks and personal consequences before resorting to escalation.

"As a cautious person who wants to live to see retirement, I know how to ensure a smooth transition of power and build a dynasty (I say all this sarcastically), but nevertheless, it would be best for him to simply remain silent today," Podolyak said.

Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Presidential Office, made this statement in an interview with the publication "Dzerkalo."
