Thunderstorms, hail, and squalls are forecast for certain regions of Ukraine on May 16
Today, May 16, partly cloudy skies are expected across Ukraine: some regions will see rain and thunderstorms, while the rest of the country will remain dry.
This is reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.
The inclement weather will affect the western regions the most. There, short-lived rains and thunderstorms are forecast during the day, and in some areas, hail and wind gusts of up to 15–20 m/s are possible.
At the same time, no precipitation is expected in most regions of Ukraine. The wind will be predominantly southerly, 5–10 m/s.
The air temperature at night will be +6…+11°, and during the day — +18…+23°.
In Kyiv and the surrounding region, variable cloudiness without precipitation is also forecast. In the capital, temperatures are expected to be +9…+11° at night and +21…+23° during the day; in the Kyiv region, daytime temperatures will be similar, reaching up to +23°.
In Kyiv, temporary traffic restrictions will be in place in the city center on May 16–17. This is due to the “MHP Run4Victory Kyiv Marathon,” a charity sports event.
According to the forecast for May 15–16, prepared based on information from the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center, geomagnetic activity is rated on the planetary K-index scale from 0 to 9. A reading of 5 or higher corresponds to strong magnetic storms.
