In Ukraine, nearly half of all marriages are arranged online: statistics

Online marriage registration in Ukraine is rapidly gaining popularity. In the first half of 2026, 30,488 marriages were registered remotely, accounting for 38.3% of the total number of registered marriages.

According to the agency, 79,516 marriages were registered in Ukraine from January through June 2026, of which 30,488 were registered electronically.

“In the first half of 2026, 79,516 marriages were registered in Ukraine, of which 30,488 were registered online. Thus, 38.3% of all marriages during this period were registered electronically. This indicates a growing popularity of online marriage registration,” the Ministry of Justice noted.

By comparison, in 2025, civil registry offices registered 165,587 marriages, of which 18.4% were registered online.

Currently, three digital offices of the Civil Status Registration Service—in Kyiv, Lviv, and Dnipro—provide online marriage registration services. Thanks to this, Ukrainians can get married remotely regardless of their location.

The first Digital Office of the Civil Registry of the Kyiv Interregional Directorate of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine began operations in September 2024. Since then, 36,823 online marriages have been registered there.

In September 2025, the digital offices in Lviv and Dnipro joined the project. During this time, 8,224 marriages were registered remotely in Lviv, and 17,239 in Dnipro.

In total, as of July 1, 2026, since the launch of the Digital Civil Registry Offices in Ukraine, 62,286 marriages have been registered electronically, demonstrating the active implementation of digital services in the field of civil registry.

This was reported by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

Previously, the Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, began beta testing a new service in the “Diya” app that will allow couples to dissolve their marriage remotely. This service is designed for spouses who have reached a mutual agreement and do not have any minor children together

A new service has been launched on the “Diya” portal in Ukraine, allowing veterans and their families to submit a single joint application to receive several government services simultaneously. Specifically, through the system, it is now possible to immediately apply for the status of a person with a war-related disability, the status of a family member of a fallen Defender, social assistance, as well as a one-time cash payment from the Ministry of Veterans Affairs.
