Ukraine plans to overhaul its speeding ticket system — Svyrydenko

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, in collaboration with government officials, is reviewing proposals to improve road safety, including changes to the penalties for speeding.

This involves introducing a tiered system of fines based on the extent to which the speed limit is exceeded, as well as harsher penalties for drivers who systematically violate the rules. According to the initiators, no significant changes are expected for most motorists—the new measures are aimed primarily at repeat offenders.

According to data from automatic enforcement systems, over the past year, thousands of drivers have been recorded regularly exceeding the speed limit dozens of times, indicating a systematic nature of the violations.

Separately, there are plans to expand the network of automated enforcement cameras—the number is set to increase from the current approximately 377 to over 410 units.

Regulations are also being drafted to govern the use of electric scooters and other light personal vehicles, as the number of traffic accidents involving them has risen significantly recently, including those resulting in injuries and fatalities, some of which involve children.

This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

Svyrydenko named the most promising professions after the war.

Svyrydenko denied rumors about the dismissal of Education Minister Lisovyi.
