The number of pensioners in Ukraine has decreased by 190,000 since the beginning of the year

Since the beginning of 2026, the number of pensioners in Ukraine has decreased by 190,500. The average pension is 7,273 hryvnia, while a quarter of pensioners receive about 3,500 hryvnia.

The number of pensioners in Ukraine has decreased by 190,500 since the beginning of 2026—more than in all of 2025. At the same time, the average pension is 7,273 hryvnia, or 163 U.S. dollars at the current exchange rate.

However, approximately one-quarter of pensioners receive about 3,500 hryvnias per month—currently, there are 2.3 million such people. By comparison, only about 500,000 people receive payments exceeding 20,000 hryvnias.

Pensioners in seven regions receive payments higher than the average. The highest are in the capital: 9,901 hryvnia (36% above the average). The average pension in Donetsk Oblast is 8,990 hryvnias (24% higher), and in Luhansk Oblast—8,752 hryvnias (20% higher),according to the Opendatabot report.

In addition, one in four pensioners continues to work—2.8 million people (28%). Their average pension is 7,994 hryvnias.
