Over 1 million square meters of roads have been repaired in Ukraine since the start of the year — Svyrydenko
Since the beginning of the year, more than 1 million square meters of damaged road surface have been repaired in Ukraine—the highest figure in the last six years.
This was reported by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
According to her, the government plans to accelerate the pace of work in the near future: routine repairs on international highways are to be completed by May 1, and major roadwork by June 1.
Special emphasis is being placed on roads critical for the front lines—military, medical, and humanitarian logistics. Within a 30-kilometer zone from the line of contact, units of the State Special Transport Service will be involved in the repairs. An additional 1.5 billion hryvnias has been allocated for these needs.
In total, the government has already allocated 3 billion hryvnias from the reserve fund, and another 12.6 billion hryvnias in the 2026 budget are earmarked for road repair and maintenance.
The Cabinet of Ministers also plans to secure additional funding, including through state guarantees and in cooperation with international partners.
Approximately 50 billion UAH is needed for the restoration and routine maintenance of roads in Ukraine.
Ukraine has begun routine repairs of road surfaces on public roads.
Over the next six months, Ukraine plans to bring major roads up to standard. Priority pothole repair work requires over 14 billion hryvnias.
