The total amount of deposits held by individuals and sole proprietors in Ukrainian banks rose by 40.1 billion hryvnias in April, reaching 1.68 trillion hryvnias.
As of May 1, 2026, Ukrainians primarily hold their funds in hryvnia. The volume of deposits in the national currency amounts to 1.103 trillion hryvnia, which is 30.4 billion more than a month earlier.
At the same time, citizens hold the equivalent of 583.5 billion hryvnias in foreign currency. In April, this figure increased by 9.7 billion hryvnias.
Individual entrepreneurs account for a significant share of bank deposits. They make up 3.2% of all depositors and 11.2% of the total funds. A total of 189.8 billion hryvnias is held in individual entrepreneur accounts.
During martial law and for three months after its conclusion, a full state guarantee on deposits of citizens and sole proprietors is in effect in Ukraine. After that, the maximum guaranteed reimbursement amount will be 600,000 hryvnias.
Currently, 59 Ukrainian banks are part of the deposit guarantee system.
