A forestry official accused of causing a traffic accident involving a 12-year-old girl is set to stand trial in Lviv Oblast
Investigators from the State Bureau of Investigations have completed a pre-trial investigation into the head of the Radekhiv Forest District of the “Forests of Ukraine” branch—“Carpathian Forest Office”—who is accused of causing a traffic accident that injured a child and fleeing the scene.

According to the investigation, the accident occurred on December 13, 2025, at around 10:00 p.m. in the village of Yablunivka, Lviv Oblast. The official, while driving a Renault Duster company vehicle, was speeding and struck a 12-year-old girl who was crossing the road.
Investigators note that the accident occurred on a well-lit section of the road, and the driver had the opportunity to react in time and avoid the collision. After the accident, according to the investigation, he did not provide assistance to the child, did not call for medical help, and left the scene.
Law enforcement officials also established that the official allegedly persuaded his subordinate to take the blame for the accident and provide false testimony to law enforcement. The case materials regarding the subordinate have been separated into a separate proceeding and have already been transferred to court.
As a result of the accident, the girl suffered a fracture of the femur. Experts classified the injuries as moderate in severity.
The indictment has already been sent to court. The official is charged with violating traffic safety rules, resulting in moderate bodily injury. The penalty under this article provides for up to three years of restricted freedom with the deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for the same period.
