A man was arrested in the Dnipropetrovsk region for torturing a pregnant woman
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, law enforcement officers have detained a 24-year-old resident of the Synelnykivsky district who is suspected of systematically torturing his 16-year-old pregnant partner.
This was reported by representatives of the region’s law enforcement agencies.
The man has already been officially notified of his status as a suspect in a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the suspect lived with the minor and, throughout April of this year, regularly subjected her to abuse out of jealousy.
The perpetrator attempted to force a confession of infidelity from the victim, using brutal methods of physical and psychological pressure.
“He beat the woman, choked her, forcibly confined her in the apartment, preventing her from leaving, and hid the keys,” prosecutors note in the case materials.
The abuse by her common-law husband became increasingly dangerous to the life and health of the expectant mother. During another violent outburst, the suspect resorted to sophisticated violence and inflicted serious bodily harm on the woman.
In particular, on one occasion, the man pressed the victim’s hand against a hot gas burner, causing her significant thermal burns.
In addition to physical abuse, the suspect completely restricted his underage partner’s personal freedom and isolated her from the outside world.
He closely monitored all her phone calls and, threatening her with violence, strictly forbade her from telling her family or friends about what had happened.
Unable to endure the constant abuse, the victim took advantage of a moment when the man was not at home and called the police herself.
Police officers responded promptly to the call, arrived at the couple’s residence, and detained the abuser.
Currently, at the request of the prosecutor’s office, the suspect has been placed under a strict preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to bail.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officials are establishing all the circumstances of this high-profile crime.
