New air quality monitoring stations have been installed in Ukraine

Ukraine’s national air quality monitoring system has been expanded with six new monitoring stations. The state-of-the-art equipment has already been put into operation and is transmitting data in several regions of the country.

This was reported by the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture.

The new stations have been installed in strategically important regions, specifically in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk (including the Ivano-Frankivsk metropolitan area), Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia.

“The development of a modern air monitoring system is the foundation of an effective environmental policy that meets EU standards. Reliable data allows for informed decision-making and better protection of public health,” noted Ihor Zubovych, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine.

The stations operate automatically and measure key air quality indicators. These include nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), ozone (O₃), carbon monoxide (CO), as well as PM₁₀ and PM₂.₅ particulate matter.

The ministry emphasizes that obtaining such data in real time allows environmentalists and medical professionals to respond promptly to changes in atmospheric conditions and warn the public about potential risks.

Air quality indicators can be monitored online using the SaveEcoBot service

As of today, elevated pollution levels have been recorded in the Bucha district of Kyiv Oblast. The air quality index stands at 107 on the NowCast scale, which is harmful to sensitive population groups.

Medical professionals advise closing windows and doors, limiting time spent outdoors, using air purifiers or protective masks, maintaining hydration, and regularly performing wet cleaning indoors under these conditions.

Earlier, the Bukovel resort launched a dashboard displaying air quality and drinking water indicators.
