A gender pay gap has been identified in Ukraine

In Ukraine, there is a significant disparity in wages between men and women. The largest gap in favor of men in terms of average monthly nominal wages is observed in the arts, sports, entertainment, and recreation sectors. In the first quarter, the average salary in the country was 28,885 hryvnias, with men earning an average of 9,007 hryvnias more than women.

"The average monthly wage in the first quarter of 2026 was 28,885 hryvnias: 33,798 hryvnias for men; 24,791 hryvnias for women," the report states.

According to the State Statistics Service, the wage ratio between men and women is 73%. This means that women earn 73% of men’s wages.
 

It is noted that the largest gender pay gap in average monthly nominal wages was observed in the arts, sports, entertainment, and recreation sector—47.1%, in finance and insurance—38.7%, in information and telecommunications—37.8%, and in wholesale and retail trade and the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles—30.6%.

This was reported by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

In Ukraine, real wages are lower than official figures, according to an expert.

Ukraine has updated average wage figures used to calculate pensions.

Pension funding for Ukrainianswas increased in April.

Ukrainians’ attitudes toward the May holidays have changed significantly in recent years. Labor Day on May 1 and Victory Day on May 9 are no longer among the most important holidays for most citizens.
