Prices for chicken have fallen in Ukraine over the past month

The average consumer price for a whole chicken in Ukraine showed a downward trend in February, falling by 5.7%.

According to the State Statistics Service, the price per kilogram of the product currently stands at 106.1 hryvnia, whereas in January it was 112.47 hryvnia.

A similar situation is observed in the chicken fillet segment, which lost 4.4% in price over the month. The current price of fillet is 208.76 UAH/kg, which is significantly lower than the January figure of 218.32 UAH/kg.

Despite the price drop in February, a comparison with 2025 figures shows a significant annual increase in the cost of poultry meat.

Whole chicken has risen in price by 15.5% over the year—from the previous price of 91.85 UAH/kg to the current level.

Fillet has risen in price even more over the year, showing an increase of 21.5%. While last year a kilogram of this product could be purchased for 171.83 UAH, consumers are now forced to pay a significantly higher price.

An interesting situation is observed at the Capital Market in Kyiv, where poultry prices differ significantly from the national average.

A factory-processed whole chicken currently costs an average of 85 hryvnias per kilogram there, which is a fairly good deal.

Chicken fillets are sold at the Kyiv market for 139 UAH/kg, which is also lower than the national average.

Since the beginning of this month, prices for these types of meat products at the market have remained stable and have not changed.

As a reminder, the National Bank warned of a possible rise in inflation and cited the reason.

Also, as of March 23, 2026, Ukraine has seen another update in fuel prices at the largest gas station chains.
