The National Police uncovered losses totaling over ₴100 million in a scheme involving the procurement of firewood for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police conducted a large-scale operation to uncover corruption schemes involving the procurement of firewood for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, officials from housing and maintenance departments and divisions, as well as private contractors associated with them, were involved in organizing the schemes.

Law enforcement officials established that in a number of cases, the cost of wood in contracts was inflated by 30–40% above market value, or deliveries were not made in full. Such actions resulted in significant losses to the state budget.

As part of the investigation, 20 criminal cases have been opened, and approximately 50 searches have been conducted in 15 regions of Ukraine and in Kyiv.

Currently, six organizers of the schemes have been notified of their status as suspects. The total amount of losses is estimated at approximately 100 million UAH.

Earlier, the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office filed an indictment against the director of the Kyiv Municipal Academic Chamber Choir on charges of official negligence.

Earlier in Kyiv, two men were exposed for defrauding an American volunteer from the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine out of over 3.2 million hryvnias by promising to create "laser weapons" to destroy drones and missiles.

As a reminder, a member of parliament warned Ukrainians about scammers who are offering payments of 6,500 hryvnias.
