The High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the verdict in the case involving the embezzlement of funds for body armor

The High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the verdict in the case involving the embezzlement of funds for body armor

On July 8, the High Anti-Corruption Court approved a plea agreement reached between a prosecutor from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and an accomplice of a NEC “Ukrenergo,” who is accused of embezzling state funds during the procurement of bulletproof vests. According to the SAP, the defendant fully admitted his guilt and agreed to provide incriminating testimony in the case.

The court found him guilty under Part 5 of Article 27, Part 2 of Article 28, and Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (aiding and abetting the abuse of power or official position, committed by a group of persons acting in concert).

He was sentenced to five years of imprisonment, fined, and barred from holding leadership positions in government agencies, enterprises, institutions, and organizations for a period of one year.

At the same time, the court suspended the convicted person’s principal sentence, setting a two-year probationary period and imposing corresponding obligations on him.

Furthermore, in accordance with the terms of the agreement, the convicted individual must reimburse half of the losses incurred by the state—5.1 million hryvnias—and transfer 1.3 million hryvnias to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

The former head of the Ternopil Regional Council lost his appeal in the High Anti-Corruption Court.

Three customs officials were charged with causing 2.5 million hryvnias in losses to the state.
