Video: Roads in Bukovel Were Flooded Due to Heavy Rains
A heavy downpour hit the Ivano-Frankivsk region, causing flooding in a number of towns and villages. In particular, strong currents of muddy water swept through the roads in the Bukovel resort area.
Footage released shows significant flows of water moving along the roads of Bukovel in the Polianytsia community.
The severe weather also affected other areas of the Carpathian region. Flooding was reported in Ivano-Frankivsk, Kalush, and Uhryniv.
The day before, meteorologists had warned of heavy rain and thunderstorms, and in some areas, they forecast hail and squalls with wind speeds of 15–20 m/s.
According to forecasts, water levels in the Prut and Siret river sub-basins are expected to rise by 0.3–1.0 meters on August 8 due to heavy rainfall.
At the same time, forecasters do not anticipate any negative consequences from this rise.
However, during intense rainfall, significant local and slope runoff may occur, and small watercourses may experience a sharp and rapid rise in water levels.

Some users suggest that the significant water flows may be linked not only to the intensity of rainfall but also to deforestation and rapid development in the Carpathians.
At the same time, there are currently no official conclusions regarding the causes of such heavy surface runoff.
