Video: A large-scale fire in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone was extinguished after two weeks
Rescue workers have completely extinguished the fire in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, which took two weeks to put out.
According to the State Emergency Service, the fire spread through forest litter and fallen trees. Rescue units from the Kyiv region and other specialized services were deployed to extinguish the blaze.
The agency noted that thanks to coordinated efforts, the fire was prevented from spreading over large areas, and the situation remained under control at all times.

The State Emergency Service also emphasized that regular measurements did not detect any radiation levels exceeding permissible limits—background radiation remained within natural ranges throughout the entire period.
As of July 10, the fire had been completely extinguished.

A unique natural event took place in the center of Chernobyl: six white storks landed simultaneously on the roof of an administrative building near the “Star of Polyn” memorial. This is a sensational event, as the last time white storks nested in the city itself was twenty years ago.
As a reminder, the previous occupants—Odarka and Hrytsyk—returned on April 5–6 to the nest located within the “Pyriatyn” National Nature Park, where a new pair of storks—Kvitka and Lel—had formed on April 2.
