Explosives manufacturers will receive more than 900 million hryvnias in grants — Fedorov

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense will award non-repayable grants to the six winners of a competition aimed at developing the production of explosives. The total amount of funding is over 900 million hryvnias—that is, nearly one billion. The funds will be used to expand and strengthen Ukraine’s defense production.

The government emphasizes that the program aims to strengthen the defense-industrial complex and increase domestic production of critically important materials for the military.

“More than a year ago, we began working on the idea of launching a competition (for explosives manufacturers—ed.). This essentially opens up a new niche in Ukraine and transforms Ukraine into a player in the global explosives market. And today I would like to announce that we will sign nearly one billion hryvnias in non-repayable grants for the six winners,” Fedorov said.

He reported that a total of 42 companies participated in the selection process. Contest participants had to demonstrate their ability to manufacture products and scale up production. Based on the selection results, six companies will receive over 900 million hryvnias in non-repayable funding to develop this sector.

The head of the Ministry of Defense clarified that this involves “new, modern laboratories and new factories that will operate under new rules and can be scaled up quickly,” among other things.

“And that is why today is an important day, because we have opened up yet another niche that, in a year or two, will make Ukrainians a player in this field,” Fedorov emphasized.
