The driver of the Nissan involved in a traffic accident that left 12 people dead has been taken into custody

In Mykolaiv, a court imposed a pretrial restraint on the driver of a Nissan vehicle suspected of causing a fatal traffic accident that claimed the lives of 12 people.

According to the court’s decision, the suspect was remanded in custody without the right to post bail. A pretrial investigation is currently underway, and law enforcement officials are establishing all the circumstances and causes of the tragedy.

“On July 7, an investigating judge of the Mykolaiv Central District Court considered a motion from the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office to impose a pretrial measure in the form of detention without the right to post bail on the driver of a Nissan Murano, who is suspected of causing a trafficaccident that resulted in the deaths of 12 people and injuries to 6 others,” the statement reads.

It is noted that following the court hearing, the investigating judge granted the prosecutor’s motion and imposed an exclusive pretrial measure on the suspect—detention for 60 days.

The defense insisted on round-the-clock house arrest and, in the event that the suspect was ordered to be held in custody, requested that the amount of bail be set.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office on Facebook.
