Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the children of fallen defenders at St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv

This year’s Easter celebrations in the capital were marked by a touching event attended by the country’s top leadership.

At the St. Sophia of Kyiv National Reserve, the President of Ukraine and the First Lady joined a festive event for the children of soldiers who gave their lives for independence.

The meeting took place with children from Kyiv and the Kyiv region whose parents heroically died during the full-scale war.

The Head of State emphasized that gratitude toward the defenders and care for their families must be a daily priority for society.

“Not just on holidays—every day, our gratitude goes to everyone fighting for Ukraine. And all our care goes to their loved ones,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized, commenting on the event on his social media.

According to the president, this meeting was unplanned and heartfelt. While preparing for the official Easter greeting at the cathedral, it became clear that festive events for the children of fallen heroes were taking place nearby.

The Zelenskys decided to personally greet the young guests and bring them moments of joy on this bright day.

A rich program had been prepared for the children, aimed at creating an atmosphere of comfort and support.

“So we joined in on this very moment at St. Sophia’s and went in to wish the children a happy Easter. The smiles with which they greeted us are priceless. We want to and must do everything so that the children of those who gave their lives for Ukraine’s security never lose faith in the world,” the president noted.
