Anton Haidur, a former judge from Transcarpathia, was released early from prison
Anton Haidur, the former head of the Mizhhiria District Court in Zakarpattia Oblast, who was sentenced to five years in prison for bribery, was released from prison on conditional early release.
Haidur had been serving his sentence at Mena Correctional Facility No. 91 since May 2022. During that time, he worked in the sewing workshop, received three commendations, and had no disciplinary violations. The prison administration acknowledged that he had turned his life around. At the time of his release, he had 11 months and 16 days remaining on his sentence.
The former judge was arrested in February 2020 while accepting a 15,000-hryvnia bribe to issue a favorable ruling in a civil case. During a search of his office, nearly 500,000 hryvnias were discovered.
The High Anti-Corruption Court sentenced Haidur to five years in prison with confiscation of property. The sentence was subsequently upheld by the appellate and cassation courts.
Meanwhile, while Haidur was serving his sentence, his son Yuriy Haidur—a major and head of the mobilization department at the Khust Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support—was detained in January on suspicion of accepting a $6,000 bribe from a conscript.
Supreme Court Justice Kishakevich was not admitted to the International Criminal Court due to his lack of English proficiency.
