Zelenskyy announced strikes on Russian launchers

Zelenskyy announced strikes on Russian launchers

Ukraine will destroy Russian launchers to reduce the number of strikes on Ukrainian cities. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian military knows exactly which targets to strike and will continue working to destroy them. According to him, these are strategically important military facilities from which Russia is launching strikes against Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.

Ukraine plans to destroy the launchers used by Russian forces to strike Ukrainian territory. In this way, Ukraine aims not only to intercept missiles or drones during attacks but also to reduce Russia’s very ability to carry out such strikes.

According to the head of state, the Ukrainian military understands which targets need to be struck to weaken Russia’s missile capabilities. “Our military knows that they need to destroy enemy launchers and thereby reduce strikes on Ukraine,” Zelenskyy stated.

The president emphasized that Russian launchers are important military targets, as they are the very platforms from which strikes on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure can be launched. “This is strategically important infrastructure for the civilian population. Military targeting of civilian infrastructure, without a doubt. They are doing this and will continue to do so,” the head of state said.

In other words, the goal is to mitigate the threat even before a Russian missile is launched. If the Ukrainian military succeeds in destroying launchers and other elements of Russia’s missile infrastructure, the enemy loses some of its capacity to carry out new attacks. This is particularly important for Ukraine due to Russia’s regular strikes on cities and civilian targets. Russia uses various types of weapons for these attacks, including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and attack drones.

Ballistic missiles pose a distinct challenge for Ukraine’s air defense. They can follow a ballistic trajectory and reach their targets in a relatively short time. As a result, detecting and intercepting such targets is a difficult task. That is why Ukraine’s strategy involves not only strengthening its air defense but also striking Russian military facilities used to prepare and carry out attacks.

Zelenskyy has also repeatedly emphasized the need to reduce Russia’s ability to strike Ukraine. This involves a systematic effort to protect Ukrainian cities and the civilian population. At the same time, the president did not specify exactly which Russian launchers he was referring to, where they are located, or what means Ukraine plans to use to destroy them.

The Ukrainian side will likely disclose further details regarding such operations only after they have been carried out. This is due to the security of military operations and the need to prevent the enemy from obtaining information that could help it protect its facilities. The main goal articulated by the president is to reduce the number of Russian strikes on Ukraine by destroying the means by which these attacks are carried out.

In other words, the Ukrainian military plans to work not only on shooting down Russian missiles in the sky but also on reducing the number of launches themselves. That is why launchers and other elements of Russia’s missile forces remain important targets for Ukrainian forces. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this statement during a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on a statement by Valeriy Zaluzhny, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, regarding the prospects of Ukraine’s NATO membership. The ministry emphasized that his remarks were taken out of context and do not reflect the state’s official position.
