Voice of America Resumes Ukrainian Broadcasts

The management of the media organization “Voice of America” has decided to resume broadcasting in Ukrainian and to bring some of the staff of the Ukrainian editorial department back to work. 

According to Ruslan Petrychka, head of the Ukrainian Service, journalists are preparing for their first broadcasts as early as next week. Petrychka himself, however, remains on administrative leave for the time being.

The resumption of broadcasting comes after a long hiatus: in March 2025, Donald Trump signed an executive order to dissolve the parent company USAGM, which led to the suspension of operations at “Voice of America” and “Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.” However, journalists challenged this decision in court, and in April, a federal court in Washington, D.C., ordered the U.S. administration to resume the media agency’s operations.

Voice of America recalled staff members from its Persian-language service who had been on leave.
