Zelenskyy and Macron agreed to speed up arms deliveries
On August 22, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Emmanuel Macron agreed to expedite the delivery of the latest French equipment and missiles to Ukraine. France also confirmed its readiness to grant licenses for the production of missiles in Ukraine, and the parties separately discussed strengthening air defense and Ukraine’s defense needs.
“A very good conversation with Emmanuel, the President of France. We spoke for nearly two hours today about all the most important issues. And this concerns, first and foremost, the need for air defense,” he wrote.
Zelenskyy briefed his counterpart on the situation regarding Russian strikes. According to him, Macron is ready to assist in communicating with partners who have missiles for the Patriot systems. They also discussed France’s air defense capabilities separately, he added.
“We agreed to expedite deliveries of the latest French equipment and missiles. Thank you for confirming your readiness to grant licenses for missile production,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
The parties also discussed the status of diplomatic efforts with partners and communication with the U.S. President’s team. They agreed on steps that could open up additional diplomatic opportunities.
They also discussed separately the need for funding to finance Ukraine’s defense for 2026–2027. The parties identified defense agreements that require acceleration in bilateral relations.

Earlier, Zelenskyy and Kellogg discussed Ukraine’s defense against Russian attacks.
As a reminder, Russia has once again struck the port of Odesa, resulting in casualties.
In Izyum, Kharkiv Oblast, five people were injured as a result of a Russian airstrike. The enemy also damaged at least 15 residential buildings.
Since the evening of August 16, the Russian army has attacked four districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region nearly 20 times. Five people were wounded as a result of the enemy strikes.
In Kherson, power outages occurred as a result of yet another round of Russian shelling.
