According to him, it is now impossible to imagine defense without the use of drones and ground-based robotic systems. He has set a goal of reaching a production level of up to 50,000 such systems by 2026.
This was reported with reference to the head of state’s evening address.
According to the president, ground robotic systems represent the next major step in national defense, one that will have a significant impact following the transition to drones.
“It is already impossible to imagine defense without drones, and likewise without ground robotic systems. I want to thank every unit, all our soldiers and commanders, our volunteers, and all the developers and manufacturers who are engaged in precisely this—the implementation of ground robotic systems,” he said.
The head of Ukraine emphasized that production and supply volumes must be increased. For this year, the contracted volume has already more than doubled compared to last year.
“And this level definitely needs to be even higher. Ukraine and the General Staff have a goal of at least 50,000 NRCs for this year. Everyone must understand: this is about saving lives. Logistics at the front, evacuation of the wounded, combat missions—the use of NRCs is currently being developed as actively as possible. That is how it should be,” Zelenskyy explained.
Zelenskyyinitiated the extension of mobilization and martial law.
As a reminder, in Ukraine in May 2026, mobilization rules will remain in effect without changes if martial law is extended. The conscription procedure, as before, will depend on age, military status, and the presence of a deferment.
Parents with multiple children in Ukraine are entitled to a deferment from mobilization, but this is not automatically guaranteed.
Meanwhile, the head of the National Police stated that law enforcement officers’ participation in mobilization activities is not their direct duty and has negative consequences. According to him, this practice affects public perception of the police.
