Zelenskyy warned of a possible Russian offensive from the Bryansk region

Zelenskyy warned of a possible Russian offensive from the Bryansk region

Russia has not ruled out the theoretical possibility of an offensive from the Bryansk Oblast toward the Chernihiv and Kyiv regions. At the same time, no Russian troops have been detected in the Bryansk Oblast along this axis at this time, although Ukrainian military personnel have spotted Russian military equipment along the border.

According to him, the Russian leadership’s main objective on the front remains the capture of territories in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. In particular, Volodymyr Zelenskyy identified the Kostiantynivka–Sloviansk axis as one of the Russian army’s priorities. “Putin’s primary objective on the front remains unchanged—Kostyantynivka–Sloviansk. The latest deadline he gave his generals is to complete the occupation of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions by the end of the year. That’s impossible—that’s our response,” the President said.

At the same time, Zelenskyy does not rule out that Russia may try to redeploy some of its forces to other sectors if its army succeeds in eastern Ukraine. According to the President, Moscow may use newly mobilized troops for this purpose. Russia will determine their numbers and deployment locations depending on the situation on the front lines. “If he deploys 300,000 newly mobilized troops depending on what happens in the east of our country. If he achieves the success he is counting on there, then he may redeploy forces to another direction,” Zelenskyy explained.

Among the possible options, he mentioned the creation of a so-called “buffer zone,” as well as the Chernihiv and Kyiv regions. “There is also the possibility of an advance toward the Chernihiv and Kyiv regions—he has plans and theoretical intentions to launch an offensive in that direction from Russia, specifically from the Bryansk region,” the President noted.

At the same time, this does not mean that a Russian offensive in the north has already begun. Zelenskyy emphasized that, at present, the Ukrainian military has not detected any Russian troops in the Bryansk Oblast. “There are currently no Russian troops there,” the head of state said.

That said, the Ukrainian side continues to monitor the situation near the border. According to Zelenskyy, the military is observing Russian military equipment along the border with Ukraine. Thus, Kyiv views the northern direction as potentially dangerous, but there is currently no information about a Russian force being assembled to launch an offensive in the Chernihiv or Kyiv regions. The Ukrainian military continues to monitor the situation and is ready to respond to any changes. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this statement during a conversation with journalists.

Ukrainian defense forces have almost completely liberated the Dnipropetrovsk region from Russian troops. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, approximately 10 square kilometers remain under Russian control—three small villages where, as the president asserts, there are virtually no Russian troops left.
