Zelenskyy stated that he had sufficient grounds to dismiss Mudra

Iryna Mudra, deputy head of the Office of the President, was dismissed immediately after the searches were conducted. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the information available at that time was sufficient to make this decision.

The
president said he had no more details on this case than what the public already knew.

“What I knew was enough to take action on the very first day of this case—immediately after the searches. There were enough details to dismiss her,” he noted.

According to Zelenskyy, like everyone else, he had heard talk of “certain actions—actual or potential”—but it would be inappropriate to discuss this now. “I consider what was said there to be sufficient grounds to dismiss the deputy and one other person in the department. If additional information becomes available, we will respond to that additional information,” the president added.

Zelenskyy also noted that personnel changes should not be an end in themselves: “You can make personnel changes every day. But there isn’t always someone to replace someone else with,” he said.

According to the president, the law enforcement and anti-corruption systems must operate independently. “What is there for me to comment on here? We must respond. They take certain steps—we respond to those steps. If it’s a minister and there are grounds to fire him—then he should be fired,” he explained.

When it comes to “unclear matters,” according to Zelenskyy, it’s worth waiting for additional details and the court’s verdict.

Zelenskyy emphasized that the heads of anti-corruption agencies have no questions for him. “They understand perfectly well that I’m not involved in anything like that. And that’s important to me,” he said.

As a reminder, on August 19, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office announced a special operation to expose a criminal organization involving officials from the Office of the President. On the same day, Iryna Mudra was dismissed from her position as deputy head of the Office of the President.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this during a meeting with journalists on August 23.

As a reminder, the High Anti-Corruption Court will continue considering the issue of imposing a preventive measure on former Deputy Head of the Office of the President Iryna Mudra on Monday, August 24. The investigating judge announced the corresponding decision.

Investigative actions were carried out at the residence of Iryna Mudra, deputy head of the Office of the President.

On August 19, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Iryna Mudra from her position as deputy head of the Office of the President. Mudra later stated that she had submitted her resignation herself.
