Zelenskyy reported on his conversation with Prokopenko
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that he had spoken with Denys Prokopenko, commander of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine.
According to the head of state, they discussed adjustments to Ukraine’s defense strategy during the conversation. Zelenskyy noted that all changes must be carefully calculated and verified.
The president also emphasized that work is ongoing to facilitate new prisoner exchanges and bring Ukrainians home.
Denys Prokopenko (“Redis”) is a Hero of Ukraine and commander of the 1st Corps of the Ukrainian National Guard. He has served in the “Azov” unit since 2014, and during the full-scale invasion, he led the defense of Mariupol and the Azovstal plant. After his release from Russian captivity in 2023, he returned to military service.
