The head of state thanked the community for its unity in overcoming the difficult winter and emphasized the need for early preparation for the next heating season due to ongoing threats to the power grid.
Key topics of discussion included strengthening the region’s air defense, protecting critical infrastructure, and supporting relocated businesses that help create jobs. The meeting participants discussed meeting the educational needs of national communities regarding instruction in their native languages, as well as the development of Transcarpathia’s balneological resources for the rehabilitation of veterans. Special attention was given to developing resilience plans for each district of the region and creating conditions for the return of Ukrainians from abroad.
For exceptional bravery in confronting Russian aggression, Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented state awards to soldiers of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Transcarpathian Brigade and UAV operators. The defenders were honored with the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, “For Bravery,” and medals “For Military Service to Ukraine.” The President also presented the Order “For Merit” to the wife of the late regional council deputy Yosyp Borto. Community representatives expressed gratitude for the constant attention to the region’s needs and the readiness to jointly address pressing humanitarian issues. Such meetings serve as an important signal of the inclusivity of Ukrainian society and the consolidation of all ethnic groups around the defense of the state. Currently, Zakarpattia remains one of the key rear hubs providing economic and medical support to the Defense Forces. Strengthening cooperation with the Hungarian community also helps counter the disinformation that Russia is attempting to spread to undermine internal stability in Ukraine. The government continues to work to ensure that every citizen, regardless of ethnic origin, feels the state’s support and protection. The Office of the President emphasized that Ukraine’s European integration entails adherence to the highest standards of protecting the rights of all national minorities. Further cooperation will include joint projects to restore infrastructure and expand cross-border cooperation.
A poll conducted in Hungary in the second half of March showed that the majority of citizens do not trust Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s statements regarding Ukraine.
Balázs Orbán, political director to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, assured that Ukraine does not pose a military threat to his country.
