A soldier who fired at the TCC and police in Rivne Oblast has been detained

Law enforcement officers detained a 48-year-old man who, on April 29, opened fire with an automatic weapon at an official vehicle carrying officials in the Dubno district. As a result of the incident, two people were injured by flying glass shards and were hospitalized; two others were in the vehicle but were unharmed.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, noting that the attacker was a military serviceman who was riding a bicycle and fled the scene after the shooting.

The investigation established that the suspect stopped next to the vehicle carrying the TCC representatives and a police officer around 5:00 p.m. and fired several rounds at the car. After his identity was established, the man was detained under special procedures during martial law. Currently, the issue of imposing a preventive measure is being decided, and necessary investigative actions are ongoing to determine the motives behind the act.

The suspect is being served with a notice of suspicion under articles regarding desertion and attempted murder of two or more persons, including a law enforcement officer. Based on the aggregate of the alleged crimes, the detainee could face life imprisonment. Law enforcement officers continue to gather evidence and are conducting forensic examinations of the seized weapon.

On the evening of April 30, a 68-year-old resident of Bila Tserkva threw an RGD-5 combat grenade over the fence of the district territorial recruitment center, where it detonated. No one was injured in the explosion, and no damage to the building or property was reported
