Zelenskyy Explained Ukraine's Position on Kosovo

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has not changed its position on Kosovo. Kyiv continues to respect Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and does not recognize Kosovo’s unilateral declaration of independence.

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is guided by international law in matters of territorial integrity. According to him, Kyiv respects the territorial sovereignty of its partners, so its position on Kosovo remains unchanged. “We respect the territorial integrity of our partners; we respect international law; therefore, our position on Kosovo’s unilateral declaration of independence remains unchanged. We have always emphasized this, and Ukraine’s policy has not changed,” Zelenskyy stated.

The president also thanked the countries that support Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He specifically mentioned Serbia, which does not recognize Russia’s occupation of Ukrainian territories and supports Kyiv’s position that Crimea belongs to Ukraine. “We are grateful to our partners for respecting Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, including Ukraine’s sovereignty over Crimea,” the head of state noted.

According to Zelenskyy, Serbia’s position on Ukraine’s territorial integrity also remains unchanged. In particular, Belgrade supports this position in the UN General Assembly as well. “Serbia’s position on this matter is also unchanged, particularly in the UN General Assembly,” the president noted.

Thus, during his visit to Belgrade, Zelenskyy specifically emphasized that Ukraine has not revised its stance on the Kosovo issue and continues to support Serbia’s territorial integrity. The head of state made these remarks during a conversation with media representatives in Belgrade.
