Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Polish President Karol Nawrocki may hold a face-to-face meeting on the sidelines of the NATO summit. Both sides are currently trying to coordinate their schedules.
Dmytro Lytvyn, the Ukrainian president’s communications adviser, told reporters about this. According to him, Zelenskyy and Nawrocki already had a brief conversation on Tuesday. “They agreed that today they would try to coordinate their schedules so that a meeting could still take place,” Litvin said.
The day before, Karol Nawrocki himself said that he had spoken with Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the leaders’ dinner before the start of the NATO summit. The Polish president did not focus on the disagreements between the two countries. Instead, he emphasized that Ukraine and Poland must maintain dialogue, as they are united by a common enemy.
If the meeting takes place, it will be the first official face-to-face conversation between Zelenskyy and Nawrocki since the high-profile incident involving the revocation of the Ukrainian president’s Polish Order of the White Eagle. At this time, the Office of the President has not announced when exactly the talks might take place. However, they confirm that the parties are already working on organizing the meeting.
It is expected that during their face-to-face meeting, the presidents will discuss bilateral relations, security cooperation, support for Ukraine, and other issues important to both countries. Dmytro Lytvyn, the Ukrainian president’s communications adviser, shared this information with reporters.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with European Council President António Costa during the NATO summit in Ankara. The main topic of the talks was Ukraine’s progress toward European Union membership and the opening of new negotiation clusters.
