Zelenskyy commented on Pyshnyy's future at the NBU

Zelenskyy commented on Pyshnyy's future at the NBU

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he has not initiated—and does not plan to initiate—the replacement of Andriy Pyshnyy, the head of the National Bank of Ukraine. According to him, the NBU is an independent institution, although there are disagreements between the National Bank, the government, and parliament on a number of issues.

The president emphasized that he is not currently taking any steps to replace the head of the National Bank. “I have not initiated any steps to replace him. It is an independent institution. Pyshnyy is the head of the National Bank,” Zelenskyy said.

He noted that Pyshnyy has a complicated relationship with the government and members of parliament. At the same time, the president clarified that this refers not only to the current government but also to differences between the positions of the National Bank and government agencies in general.

The NBU and the Ministry of Finance Have Different Views

Zelenskyy explained that the National Bank and the Ministry of Finance hold differing positions on many issues. “Because the National Bank’s position under his leadership and the Ministry of Finance’s position are very different on many issues,” the head of state noted.

According to the president, in previous years he was repeatedly asked to help resolve disputes between various state institutions. During difficult times, he would get involved in such discussions. “During difficult times between institutions, I was asked to resolve the situation, and I have done so over the past few years,” Zelenskyy said.

The president does not want to intervene in new disputes

At the same time, the situation has now changed. Zelenskyy stated that he does not want to participate in resolving conflicts that are accompanied by information campaigns. “But now that various information campaigns have begun—ones aimed at influencing the situation—I no longer intend to participate in fostering dialogue between these institutions,” the president said.

He called on state institutions to focus not on public disputes but on the country’s stability. “Let them understand that we need to think about stability in the country, not about information campaigns,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

Thus, according to the president, replacing Andriy Pyshnyy as head of the NBU is not currently his initiative. He also stressed that the National Bank must remain an independent institution. He made these remarks during a conversation with journalists.

Russia has not ruled out the theoretical possibility of an offensive from the Bryansk region toward the Chernihiv and Kyiv regions. At the same time, no Russian troops have been detected in the Bryansk region in this direction, although the Ukrainian military has spotted Russian military equipment along the border.

Ukrainian defense forces have almost completely liberated the Dnipropetrovsk region from Russian troops. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, approximately 10 square kilometers remain under Russian control—three small villages where, as the president claims, there are virtually no Russian troops left.
