Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is seeking licenses to manufacture missiles for the Patriot air defense systems. According to him, this would strengthen the country’s defense capabilities and allow for the partial localization of production of the necessary ammunition.
Zelenskyy made these remarks at a press conferencewith Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.
“I began this conversation with President Biden and am continuing it with President Trump; I would very much like Ukrainian manufacturers to obtain licenses to produce PAC-3 [missiles for the Patriot system] so that we can help others when needed.Ukraine has not received a license to produce PAC-3s. I believe that in the future, perhaps we will receive one, or we will have our own system,” the president said.
He noted that, as far as anti-ballistic systems are concerned, there is currently no alternative to the Patriot systems. According to him, there are agreements with France and Germany regarding future packages, but Zelenskyy says that air defense is needed right now.
Zelenskyycalled on the Rada to ratify the loan agreement with the EU.
