Zelenskyy called on the Verkhovna Rada to immediately dismiss Prosecutor General Kravchenko
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the Verkhovna Rada to immediately support the dismissal of Ruslan Kravchenko from the post of Prosecutor General. According to the head of state, there is only one option for the head of the Prosecutor General’s Office—resignation.
“This Prosecutor General has only one path: dismissal from office. That is exactly what I told him,” Zelenskyy said.
According to the president, the reasons for Kravchenko’s dismissal are already known to the Ukrainian public.
“Ukraine has seen all the reasons. If he considers this political pressure, let him call it that. I ask lawmakers to support this dismissal without delay,” Zelenskyy said.
The president’s decision came amid an investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) into the activities of a criminal organization within the Office of the Prosecutor General.
On September 4, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau announced that, as part of Operation “Carthage,” they had uncovered a criminal organization which, according to investigators, systematically received bribes from fraudulent call centers and laundered the proceeds.
According to the investigation, one of the officials at the Office of the Prosecutor General established this group in mid-2025. Serving prosecutors and other close associates were allegedly drawn into its activities.
According to detectives, the participants in the scheme imposed fees to ensure the unhindered operation of underground call centers, which defrauded Ukrainian and foreign citizens on a massive scale.
On September 6, the High Anti-Corruption Court imposed a preventive measure on Serhiy Kropiva, deputy head of the Department of International Cooperation.
He was taken into custody with the option of posting bail in the amount of 120 million hryvnias.
According to investigators, Kropiva may have been involved in covering up the activities of fraudulent call centers.
At the same time, the circumstances of the case and the allegations must be confirmed in accordance with the law, and the final determination of the suspects’ guilt rests with the court.
The Verkhovna Rada must now consider the dismissal of Ruslan Kravchenko from the office of Prosecutor General.
