Zelenskyy noted that political games in parliament play into the enemy’s hands

Zelenskyy noted that political games in parliament play into the enemy’s hands

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia is attempting to prevent Ukraine from receiving international funding, specifically the €90 billion European aid package.

According to him, the real threat to the state lies in attempts to derail budgetary support, while certain politicians in parliament are wasting resources on discussing elections.

Zelenskyy made these remarks during a closed-door meeting with journalists.

“Right now, the enemy wants to thwart all our opportunities to fill the state budget, first and foremost the European financial package of 90 billion (euros, – ‘Glavkom’). The Russians are clearly working on this and looking for ways to complicate everything. This is what truly threatens Ukraine, not these games in parliament. Unfortunately, our enemy is smarter than some Ukrainian politicians. He strikes at our weak spots, and sometimes this is politically facilitated from within,” said the head of state.

Zelenskyy emphasized that certain politicians and members of parliament regularly raise the issue of holding elections, spending significant resources, time, and effort on it. At the same time, as the president noted, the biggest problem is that such discussions undermine unity within the country.

“Because any signal, for example, about the need for a so-called unity coalition, tells the world and the enemy that there is no unity. That is, specifically in politics, specifically in this coalition, and not in society—which is what matters. In other words, what they’re really saying is: we want a new government, we want ‘unity’ so that we can all be involved in the processes and get to work. And what about now—aren’t you working? This is a signal to the European Union that things aren’t working. It’s also a signal to the “Russians” that just a little more is needed—and they’ll bring down this government. Is that reasonable?” the president explained.

As a reminder, the government failed to meet key structural benchmarks on time, which were scheduled for the first quarter of 2026 under the International Monetary Fund’s new Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program. The main reason for the breakdown of the agreements was the refusal of lawmakers to vote.

Zelenskyy commented onthe situation in Transnistria and the threats in the Vinnytsia region.

Zelenskyy awarded several cities the title of Hero City of Ukraine.

Ukraine has received new missiles for the Patriot system, according to Zelenskyy.

Air defense forces shot down113 Russian drones; six locations were hit.

Prior to this, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the “Krymskaya” oil pumping station in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation. A fire broke out there following the attack. Warehouses and military equipment in the occupied territories were also hit.

On the night of April 9, the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully struck the "Krymskaya" oil pumping station located in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation.
