It costs about 2,500 hryvnias to get a first-grader ready for school in 2026
Preparing a child for first grade in 2026 will cost parents an average of 2,400–2,500 UAH just for a basic set of school supplies. The largest portion of these expenses comes from the purchase of a backpack.
According to calculations by UNN, prices for backpacks for first-graders start at 800 UAH, but a high-quality model with an orthopedic back panel, wide shoulder straps, and reflective elements will cost an average of about 1,300 UAH.
