161 engagements in a single day and heavy enemy losses on the Pokrovsk axis
Throughout 15 January, 161 combat engagements took place along the front line between the Defence Forces of Ukraine and Russian troops. The enemy made its most intense attempts to break through Ukrainian defences on the Pokrovsk axis, where Ukrainian forces inflicted the heaviest losses on the occupiers. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook.
During the day, the enemy carried out two missile strikes and 63 air strikes, using three missiles and dropping 160 guided aerial bombs. In addition, Russian forces conducted 4,876 strikes with kamikaze drones and 2,464 shelling attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. “Since the beginning of the day, 161 combat engagements have occurred,” the General Staff of the AFU stated.
On the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk axes, Ukrainian defenders repelled one enemy attack. The enemy used aviation, dropped two guided aerial bombs and carried out 87 shelling attacks, including three with multiple launch rocket systems.
On the Southern Slobozhanshchyna axis, 11 combat engagements were recorded in the areas of Vovchansk, Prylipky, Tykhe, Starytsia, Vovchanski Khutory, as well as in the directions of Izbytske, Kruhlyi and Nesterne. At the time of reporting, three battles were still ongoing.
On the Kupiansk axis, Russian troops attempted five times to attack the positions of the Defence Forces near Pishchane, Kurylivka, Petropavlivka and Bohuslavka. Two engagements remained active.
Intense fighting also continued on the Lyman axis. There, the occupiers launched 17 assaults on Ukrainian positions in the areas of Zarichne, Novoselivka, Torske, and in the directions of Lyman, Stavky, Druzhliubivka, Oleksandrivka, Dibrova and Drobyshcheve. One battle was still ongoing.
On the Sloviansk axis, Ukrainian soldiers repelled five attacks. The enemy attempted to advance in the areas of Siversk, Platonivka and towards Zakitne. On the Kramatorsk axis, Ukrainian defenders stopped four attacks near Vasiukivka, Fedorivka and in the directions of Pryvillia and Minkivka.
A difficult situation persisted on the Kostiantynivka axis, where Russian troops attacked Ukrainian Armed Forces positions 21 times in the areas of Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Rusyn Yar, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Shcherbynivka and Pleshchiivka. One battle on this axis was still ongoing.
The highest number of attacks over the past day was recorded on the Pokrovsk axis. There, the enemy made 41 attempts to push back Ukrainian units in the areas of Nykanorivka, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Molodetske, Filiia, as well as in the directions of Rodynske, Nove Shakhove and Sukhetske.
According to preliminary estimates, it was on this axis that Ukrainian forces eliminated 87 Russian occupiers and wounded a further 49. One motorcycle, three quad bikes, 30 unmanned aerial vehicles, two vehicles, nine pieces of special equipment and one personnel shelter were destroyed. In addition, six more vehicles, an electronic warfare system, a ground robotic complex and nine enemy shelters were damaged.
On the Oleksandrivka axis, the enemy attacked nine times near Vyshneve and in the directions of Ivanivka, Oleksandrohrad, Yehorivka, Rybne, Zlahoda and Andriivka-Klevtsove. One battle was still ongoing.
On the Huliaipole axis, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 25 attacks in the areas of Solodke, Huliaipole and in the directions of Dobropillia, Olenokostiantynivka, Zelene and Varvarivka. The enemy carried out air strikes on Rizdvianivka, Samiilivka, Hirke, Vozdvyzhivka, Zaliznychne and Huliaipole itself.
On the Orikhiv axis, five combat engagements took place in the areas of Prymorske, Stepnohirsk, Stepove and Kamianske. The enemy also used aviation against Orikhiv, Tavriiske and Preobrazhenka.
On the Dnipro axis, Russian troops made one unsuccessful attempt to approach the positions of Ukrainian defenders.
No significant changes in the situation were recorded on other sections of the front line, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine concluded.
