The strikes on Chongar have intensified the blockade of the occupied south — DeepState

Analysts from the DeepState project claim that the strikes on the road bridge in the Chongar area are part of a systematic effort to disrupt logistics in the occupied territories of southern Ukraine.

According to the analysts, the strikes carried out on June 7 and 9 disabled a key crossing used for supplies from Crimea. In their view, this creates disruptions in the Russian forces’ supply chains and significantly complicates the resupply of units in the occupied territories.

Four routes—and all are under threat

Russian military logistics between Crimea and the occupied south rely on four main routes. Strikes on each of them are gradually tightening the noose around the Russian forces.

  • Chongar is the central and most convenient route. The new R-280 highway, connecting Rostov-on-Don with Simferopol, runs through it. Following strikes on June 7 and 9, traffic across the bridge has been completely blocked. The old road bridge is unusable, and the railway bridge—near the “Sivash” station—has limited capacity due to previous damage.
  • The Arabat Spit is an alternative route via two bridges near Henichesk, which have also been repeatedly struck and are under fire from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The excessive logistical load is further damaging the road surface.
  • The Kerch Strait connects Crimea with mainland Russia, but due to the constant threat of strikes, delays, and limited capacity, it cannot fully replace land routes.
  • The Perekop Isthmus—a detour that the occupiers are forced to use to divert cargo traffic. Using this route increases the logistical distance by approximately 100 km, raises fuel costs, and accelerates equipment wear and tear. At the same time, it falls within range of a wide array of Defense Forces weaponry.

“Azov” is applying pressure from the other side

The blockade is not limited to the Crimean side. Azov fighters have taken the Taganrog–Mariupol–Volnovakha highway under fire control—one of the shortest routes of the “land corridor” from Russia to the occupied territories. Cutting off this route significantly complicates supplies to Russian forces on the southern front.

DeepState analysts emphasize that expanding the blockade could significantly alter the course of hostilities in the south. At the same time, they caution against euphoria—the bridges can be repaired, and the occupiers have already begun repair work. However, the Defense Forces have demonstrated the ability to control everything moving along these routes.

According to analysts, the “Behemoth” kamikaze drone—developed by GLEFA and Culver Aerospace—was used in combat for the first time on June 7 to strike Chongar. It belongs to the middle-strike class and is capable of striking targets at a distance of up to 300 km.

This is reported with reference to DeepState analysts.

Russia is deploying new assault units to the southern front.

The occupiers attacked Kostiantynivka with incendiary munitions and caused a rain of phosphorus.

Russia attacked Kharkiv and the surrounding region overnight; there are casualties.
