The Russian Federation's attack on the energy infrastructure in the Carpathian region left more than 11,000 customers without power
On the morning of April 1, Russian drones struck critical infrastructure targets in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, causing widespread power outages. The Kolomyia district sustained the most damage to its power grid, leaving approximately 11,000 customers without electricity.
According to Svitlana Onyshchuk, head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, the enemy UAVs targeted the region’s life-support facilities; however, preliminary data indicates there were no casualties or injuries.
Utility workers and rescue services are on site at the impact locations to quickly restore power and assess the damage. Residents of the region whose property was damaged as a result of shelling by the Russian Federation are entitled to financial assistance from the regional budget. To apply for payments, you must submit a set of documents to the Department of Social Policy of the Regional State Administration or call (0342) 75 24 67 for clarification.
The attack on western regions of Ukraine was accompanied by explosions near Bukovel, confirming the Russian Federation’s systematic attempts to destabilize the country’s power grid. Authorities urge citizens to remain in shelters during alerts and to conserve electricity to facilitate the work of repair crews. Data on the extent of damage to power facilities in frontline and rear communities is currently being verified. Specialists are doing everything possible to quickly stabilize the situation in the Carpathian energy hub.
