At least four people were killed and more than a dozen injured as a result of Russia’s nighttime missile and drone attack on Kyiv and Kyiv region. Euronews reports, citing Ukrainian officials.

Strikes on Kyiv and Boryspil

Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, said that the region came under a massive overnight attack by Russian missiles and strike drones. Kyiv residents reported more than a dozen loud explosions on Monday evening and during the early hours of Tuesday. Before that, Ukraine’s Air Force had warned of the threat of ballistic missile use.

The Kyiv City Military Administration reported that three people were killed in the capital and more than five were injured. According to Tkachenko, a strike damaged an enterprise in Boryspil, east of Kyiv: one person was killed and another was injured. A further eight people, according to his data, were affected by a strike on a residential building.

The threat persisted

Ukraine’s Air Force said that the threat of ballistic weapons and other means of attack remained for Kyiv and the region. Residents were urged to stay in shelters and exercise caution until the air raid alert was lifted.

The attack took place on the day Ukrainian children returned to school after the summer holidays. The Kyiv Regional Military Administration warned against holding large events in areas with a high level of danger. Euronews notes that Kyiv and adjacent areas have regularly come under Russian air attacks in recent weeks.
