Russian drones destroyed a regional power company facility in the Chernihiv region
In the Chernihiv region, a Russian drone attack destroyed the building housing one of the Koryukivka District power grid offices. The enemy also destroyed a utility company vehicle and damaged another one.
“Yesterday, September 1, the enemy launched a targeted strike on one of the Koryukivka District Power Grid’s substations. As a result of the shelling, the substation building was destroyed, one of the power utility workers’ service vehicles was destroyed, and a second one was significantly damaged. Fortunately, none of the employees were injured," the statement reads.
It is noted that the enemy carried out the strike at night.
“Our town comes under fire quite often, but we’ve never heard such powerful explosions before. There were two of them. Immediately afterward, the alarm went off (motion sensors had been installed at our branch). To be honest, at first I thought that the powerful blast had simply blown out the windows or doors in the building, which is why the alarm went off. But it turned out to be a direct hit,” said Roman Fedchenko, the site foreman.
According to him, there were two vehicles in the garage. One was temporarily undergoing repairs, while the other was used by the power workers to travel to job sites.
“Unfortunately, the latter was completely burned, along with the tools inside. Next to it, we found an engine from a ‘Shahid.’ The second strike hit the main part of the section; the building is virtually completely destroyed,” he added.
Power workers have been clearing the rubble for the second day in a row.
It is noted that this substation is not the first unit of JSC “Chernihivoblenergo” that the Russians have destroyed since the start of the full-scale invasion.
“At the same time, it’s important to understand that we’re not talking about a power facility, but about a place where civilians are located,” the regional power company noted.
Despite the difficult situation, power workers continue to work and are doing everything possible to properly prepare the region for the fall and winter, which promise to be very challenging, the utility added.

Naftogaz emphasized that the Kherson CHP is exclusively a civilian facility, whose primary purpose is to supply heat to the city’s residents. At the same time, the CHP has been subjected to dozens of Russian attacks throughout 2026.
