A Russian airstrike destroyed the home of the parents of Ukrainian biathletes
A Russian guided aerial bomb completely destroyed the home of the parents of Ukrainian biathletes and Olympic champions Vita and Valentina Semerenko. The strike occurred in the village of Krasnopillia in the Sumy region.
As a result of the attack, the residential building was completely destroyed. The athletes themselves reported the tragedy, noting that the Russian shelling had left their family without their family home.
What happened to the Semerenko sisters’ home?
According to the biathlete, it was in this very house that she spent her childhood and began her journey into elite sports.
“Krasnopillia. My home. My childhood. My story. It was right here that I took my first steps toward biathlon. It was right here that I brought my medals, including my Olympic gold. This was the home where my memories, my family, and my life lived,” wrote Vita Semerenko.
She emphasized that this shelling is yet another war crime committed by Russia, for which those responsible will certainly be held accountable. She added that the enemy may destroy walls, but it cannot destroy the memory of and love for one’s homeland.
The parents of the Semerenko sisters were unharmed, as they had evacuated in time from the frontline town of Krasnopillia.
The athlete reported this on her Facebook page. She also posted a video showing the aftermath of the enemy shelling.
In the Sumy region, gas stations remain open despite Russian attacks on fuel infrastructure.
As a reminder, following this morning’s attack by Russian drones on the Sumy community, the number of casualties has risen to 18 people, including children.
In the Kherson region, 13 people were injured as a result of Russian shelling over the past day, and more than 40 settlements in the region came under attack.
In the Sumy region, ten people were injured as a result of a massive attack by Russian drones, including a woman who was seriously wounded and suffered severe burns.
