BAE Systems and its Ukrainian partner have signed an agreement to manufacture the Light Gun

The British defense company BAE Systems and an unnamed strategic Ukrainian defense partner have signed a licensing agreement for the production of Light Gun artillery systems in Ukraine. The strategic partnership is also intended to facilitate the development of a modified version of the L119 light howitzer for use by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to Ukrainska Pravda, citing European Pravda and a BAE Systems press release, the agreement was announced following the Farnborough International Airshow. The name of the Ukrainian defense company with which the agreement was signed has not been disclosed.

According to BAE Systems, the agreement will provide access to the technical information and support necessary to manufacture the first gun for testing. Giles Ambrose, Director of Engineering, Technology, and Strategy at BAE Systems Weapon Systems UK, stated that the agreement will combine the company’s expertise in artillery with the Ukrainian partner’s knowledge of Ukraine’s operational needs and is intended to support the development of Ukraine’s sovereign defense capabilities.
