Budanov promised Drapaty his full support following the change in the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Kirill Budanov, Head of the Office of the President, stated that the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapatiy, can count on his full support and assistance. Commenting on the personnel decision to reshuffle the Armed Forces’ command, Budanov emphasized the need to focus on troop management and the front lines.
“The main thing right now is managing the troops and focusing entirely on the front lines, because the enemy doesn’t take breaks from the war,” Budanov wrote on social media, according to Ukrainska Pravda.
Budanov noted that he has known Drapaty for a long time, describing him as a commander with a “real sense of combat” who soberly assesses the situation, makes quick decisions, and protects his people. According to him, the army trusts Drapaty, and he has major challenges ahead of him.
The head of the Office of the President also thanked the previous Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, for his years of service, resilience, and dedication to Ukraine. Earlier, after six days of protests, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Syrskyi’s dismissal and the appointment of Drapaty as Commander-in-Chief.
