Bro, these are our guys: A Ukrainian soldier outwitted an occupier who had sneaked into a dugout

A Russian soldier sneaked into a Ukrainian position at night, but a soldier with the call sign “Lotus” managed to outwit him.

The soldier himself, a member of the 3rd Assault Battalion, recounted the incident. According to him, in the darkness, he initially only heard the voice of the invader, who was about a meter away from him on the other side of the curtain.

“Lotus” began talking to the Russian and asking how many of them had entered the position. At first, the occupier replied that there were two of them, but a few dozen seconds later, he said there were already three. The Ukrainian soldier realized that the occupier had likely gotten lost and did not fully understand where he had ended up.

Soon after, the Russian opened fire. “Lotus” took cover and then threw a grenade. The first explosion did not stop the enemy, so the soldier used a thermobaric grenade, which exploded inside the dugout.

After the second explosion, the invader stopped firing.

Vladimir Putin likely decided to further escalate the war after several weeks of deliberation this summer. According to The Economist, the Russian dictator may be seeking to preserve his power and life through this escalation.

As a reminder, on the afternoon of August 30, Russian troops attacked Kyiv with strike drones. Explosions were heard in the capital, and air defense forces engaged enemy targets.
