Air defense forces shot down nearly 80% of jet-powered drones in a single day

On the morning of September 1, Russia launched 99 attack drones at Ukraine, most of which were jet-powered. Ukrainian air defense forces have already shot down or neutralized 82 drones, including 57 jet-powered ones, but the attack is still ongoing.

On the morning of September 1, Russian troops launched a massive drone attack on Ukrainian territory. In total, the occupiers launched 99 attack drones. According to military reports, 72 of the drones launched were jet-powered. Such drones have higher flight speeds, which can pose additional challenges for Ukrainian air defense.

Ukrainian defense forces actively engaged the aerial targets. As of 6:30 p.m., they had managed to shoot down or neutralize 82 attack drones. Of these, 57 were jet-powered. This accounts for approximately 79.17% of the total number of jet-powered drones that Russia launched against Ukraine that day. In other words, Ukrainian air defense neutralized nearly four out of every five jet-powered drones involved in the attack.

The attack is not over yet

Despite the significant number of targets destroyed and neutralized, the danger had not passed as of the evening. The Air Force reported that at 6:30 p.m., 10 attack drones remained in Ukrainian airspace. In addition, new groups of Russian drones continued to enter across the state border. This means that the air attack was still ongoing at that time, and the number of targets could have fluctuated.

The Air Force urged Ukrainians not to ignore air raid sirens. If an alert is declared in a region or town, people must take shelter and remain there until the official all-clear is given.

How many drones were shot down

As of 6:30 p.m., the overall picture of the attack was as follows: Russia launched 99 attack drones, 72 of which were jet-powered. Ukrainian air defense forces and other units of the Defense Forces shot down or neutralized 82 drones. Among them were 57 jet-powered drones.

At the same time, 10 attack drones remained in Ukrainian airspace at that moment. New groups of drones were still crossing the border. Thus, the Ukrainian military had already neutralized most of the aerial targets, but it was too early to say that the attack had ended as of 6:30 p.m. The Air Force continues to monitor the situation and urges citizens to respond to air raid alerts. This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.

Ukraine is conducting combat tests of at least four jet interceptors designed to counter Russian jet drones.
