Budanov announced a new prisoner exchange with Russia in the coming days
Kirill Budanov, Chief of Staff of the Office of the President of Ukraine, stated on June 26 that a new prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia could take place in the coming days. According to him, “you’ll see in a few days.”
Kirill Budanov, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, made this statement during a conversation with students at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
Before the announcement, one of the students asked the head of the Office of the President whether there were any “red lines” for him regarding the exchange.
“Please tell me, do you believe human life has value or not?” Budanov asked.
After the student replied that human life is priceless, Budanov continued: “And if it’s priceless, is there anything that can be disregarded?”
Upon hearing the answer “No,” he said, “Well, then, for me, there isn’t either.”
Shortly after that, Kirill Budanov briefly announced a new prisoner exchange.
“God willing, you’ll see the exchange in a few days,” he said.
Prior to this, Russia announced preparations for a new prisoner exchange with Ukraine.
Earlier, Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada’s Human Rights Commissioner, commented on preparations for a “1,000 for 1,000” exchange. According to him, technical work is currently underway at the level of the negotiating teams, which are working out the details of the future process.
Lubinec presented a draft report on Russia’s war crimes against Ukrainian prisoners of war.
